Three Cups of Tea Audio Book
Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortensen, an unintended philanthropist and peace advocate, tells the story of one man’s challenge to climb K2 in Pakistan, one of the most dangerous mountains in the world. Mortensen’s attempted climb failed as he was injured during the expedition and so couldn’t complete the climb, but in the aftermath was cared for by villagers who lived in the remote mountains. The village was cut off from all the modern amenities that we take for granted and was also lacking in a school for their children.
The audiobook details his unbelievable journey from a mountain side to school building in Pakistan and Afghanistan, with the sole aim of educating the children of the region. His belief was that if the children were helped in getting an education, they would then have the chooses that would enable them to make their own decisions which meant they would not have to be taught in schools run by religious radicals. Three Cups of Tea offers a different view into the world of intercultural contact. The audio book can be best described as a remarkable adventure and the stirring true story of how one man is really trying to change the world.
