This audiobook is about a Philadelphia lawyer named Grace Rossi, who as a single mother works part-time to try and make ends meet. Her boss is Judge Armen Gregorian, a handsome man who works in the federal appeals court. Even though by all accounts he is happily married, several women find him very attractive, with Grace being no exception. When Gregorian chose her from a group of clerks to help him examine the notorious Hightower case, she considered herself very lucky indeed, especially when their very first night working together turned pretty romantic. Her happiness wasn’t to last though when news arrived that Gregorian has been found dead with gunshot wounds, apparently a suicide. Grace, perceiving it had to be murder, started searching to find out who was guilty for his murder. She finds assistance along the away in the shape of an inventive homeless man who actually turns out to be an agent for the FBI undercover, investigating potential fraud in the court.
Lisa Scottoline, who was an Edgar nominee for first book she wrote which was called ‘Everywhere That Mary Went’, manages to pull together a fascinating cast of characters and a clever mystery makes for an enthralling read.
