Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Audio Book
Hunter S. Thompson’s wild account of drug taking lunacy in Sin City was totally savaged by the critics in 1998, but that tale of sordid life and debauchery was actually born two years earlier with this audiobook adaptation of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. This audio recording of the book offers Thompson’s fans something more than the film ever did, as it manages to encompass all of his explosive narrative perfectly and for the most part, adequately.
The audio book fantastically brings to life a few of the more shocking passages which the paper version was just not capable of doing, and it appears that Thompson has deliberately taken the opportunity to leave some aspects of the story purposely vague – could he have done this to let his army of readers use their own imagination?
Some may argue that this version is no substitute for the ‘real’ book but it is very much a matter of opinion, with quite a few people countering that argument insisting that this audio ‘hits’ parts that the book is just not capable of doing.
